Yellow Card Eyes Global Expansion After $40m Funding Round

Yellow Card is accelerating its international growth strategy after securing $40 million in fresh capital to expand its stablecoin-based payment infrastructure and deepen its presence across key global markets.

The funding gives the company additional capacity to scale products designed for businesses that require faster access to dollar liquidity, cross-border settlement and treasury services.

Rather than focusing only on geographic expansion, Yellow Card is positioning itself as infrastructure for companies operating across fragmented financial systems, particularly in markets where access to foreign currency remains difficult or expensive.

A major part of the expansion will centre on its Global USD Accounts product, which provides businesses with access to dollar-denominated accounts while connecting them to stablecoin settlement channels.

The company is also targeting stronger growth in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region as it builds payment corridors linking emerging markets with the broader global financial system.

Yellow Card’s expansion comes as more companies across Africa are turning to dollar-linked digital assets to manage currency risk, preserve working capital and complete international transactions.

Persistent foreign exchange shortages in several African economies have created demand for alternative settlement methods, particularly among importers, exporters, fintech companies and institutions that depend on reliable access to foreign currency.

Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC have increasingly become part of that infrastructure because their value is generally tied to the U.S. dollar while transactions can move across digital networks without depending entirely on traditional correspondent banking channels.

Yellow Card is seeking to capture that growing demand by providing businesses with regulated access to digital-dollar infrastructure while maintaining connections to conventional banking and payment systems.

Its expansion strategy is also being supported by a widening regulatory presence.

The company has secured regulatory approvals in a number of jurisdictions, including South Africa, while also establishing a supervised financial presence in Switzerland.

These approvals are particularly important as institutional adoption of digital assets increasingly depends on compliance, anti-money laundering controls and the ability of service providers to satisfy the requirements of banks and regulators.

Yellow Card has also developed relationships with major global payments companies as it seeks to integrate stablecoin infrastructure with established financial networks.

Its partners include Visa, Mastercard, Western Union, Thunes and MoneyGram, giving the company access to a wider ecosystem of payment, settlement and remittance services.

The $40 million Series C round was led by Blockchain Capital and attracted participation from investors including SC Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund and Polychain Capital.

The transaction has pushed Yellow Card’s total equity funding since inception above $120 million.

The company now operates across more than 50 markets, providing services that include cross-border payments, fiat settlement, business wallets and stablecoin infrastructure.

Yellow Card was founded in 2016 and began operations in Nigeria in 2019 as a digital asset trading platform before shifting its business model toward enterprise payments and treasury services.
