A former member representing Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Oghene Egoh, has commended President Bola Tinubu on the progress in road infrastructure development and economic reforms.
Egoh gave the commendation while speaking with journalists in Lagos on Sunday, noting that the administration had demonstrated a strong commitment to national development through strategic projects and policy interventions.
He said the ongoing execution of key road infrastructure projects reflected a deliberate effort to reposition the country for sustainable economic growth.
Among the projects, Egoh highlighted the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, describing it as a transformative initiative that would enhance coastal connectivity, boost tourism, and expand trade and the blue economy across several states.
He described the project as one of the most ambitious infrastructure undertakings in Nigeria’s history, adding that it reflected a long-term vision for economic prosperity.
Egoh also commended the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, saying “it would strengthen North-South trade routes, improve agricultural logistics, and promote national unity.”
He further noted progress on the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway and the accelerated work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as evidence of renewed attention to critical transport corridors.
He said, “The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of the most important economic corridors in Nigeria, and its near completion under President Tinubu is commendable.”
The former lawmaker also referenced ongoing works on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and the expansion of the Bodo-Bonny Road, saying “both projects were improving the movement of goods and people across regions.”
Egoh praised the administration’s adoption of reinforced concrete pavement for major highways, stating, “It would improve durability, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure better value for public spending.”
On economic policy, he said, “Tinubu’s reforms, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange adjustments, and infrastructure financing strategies, were laying the groundwork for long-term stability despite short-term challenges.”
He added, “Economic reform is never easy, but courageous leadership requires making tough decisions for the greater good. President Tinubu has shown political will in confronting difficult realities.”
Egoh urged Nigerians to remain patient with the administration, expressing confidence that the benefits of ongoing reforms and infrastructure investments would become more evident in the coming years.
