Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke popularly known Davido, has said Nigerian entertainers, including himself, have not done enough to speak out against growing injustice and insecurity in the country.

The singer, made the remarks in a series of post shared on X on Saturday, where he urged public figures to become more vocal on national issues.

“I can’t lie, we entertainers… we dey fuck up, I won’t lie, including me. We need to speak up. It’s too much injustice going on. Our country don go,” he wrote.

Davido acknowledged that celebrities often face criticism whether they speak out or remain silent, but insisted that individuals should follow their convictions.

“Talk, dem go abuse you. No talk, dem go still abuse you. Do wetin your heart tell you. No reason am. Still on still pray for Nigeria,” he added.

The award-winning artiste also expressed concern over the state of the nation and extended his sympathies to victims of recent tragedies.

“I’m weak. God please take control. We can’t continue like this. My heart goes out to the victims and family. This is messed up,” he wrote.

Davido’s comments came amid widespread outrage over the recent abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oyo State.

The incident reportedly led to the deaths of two teachers, who were allegedly killed by their abductors.

Nigerian musician, Falz, also joined civil society organisations earlier in the week in calling for protests over the abduction of the schoolchildren.
