Several parts of Abuja will experience a temporary power outage on Sunday, September 6, 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria carries out scheduled maintenance at the 132kV Apo Transmission Substation. According to TCN on X on Saturday, the maintenance exercise will take place between 9:00am and 5:00pm and will involve the stringing and latching of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the two 132kV Katampe–Apo Transmission Lines, Lines 1 and 2, between towers T130 and T132. Oil prices remained firm on Friday and were on track for their strongest weekly performance since mid-July as escalating hostilities between the United States and Iran heightened concerns over potential supply disruptions from the Middle East. The Anambra Police Command says a new suspect, allegedly behind the murder of a nursing student in Alor, Idemili South LGA of the state, is now in its custody. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement issued in Awka and made available to newsmen on Saturday.
