Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) Plc recorded a 72% increase in directors’ remuneration to N4.45 billion in the first nine months of 2026, despite a 12.2% decline in the group’s profit after tax during the same period. According to the financial services group’s unaudited financial statements for the period ended September 30, 2026, directors’ emoluments increased by N1.86 billion from N2.59 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025. The increase came as GTCO’s profit after tax declined to N614.57 billion from N699.64 billion, representing an N85.07 billion reduction in earnings. Profit before tax also fell by 2.3% to N879.90…

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the Imo West senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections and replaced him with Rochas Okorocha. Ethiopia has received dozens of fighter jets from Russia as the conflict in the northern Tigray region, which neighbours Eritrea, intensifies. The country received a dozen Russian Su-35 fighter jets on Wednesday and is also expected to receive four S-400 air defence systems to boost its military capabilities.
