The Nigeria Police Force has deployed a new Commissioner of Police (CP), Samuel Erale, to oversee the forthcoming 15 August governorship election in Osun State. This comes after months of persistent calls from the state government for the removal of CP Ibrahim Gotan amid controversies his alleged partisanship and poor handling of election-related security. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has moved its 2026 Elective Congress by one day, with the election now set to take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The congress was first scheduled for Saturday, September 26, and will elect members of the NFF Executive Committee, who will lead the federation for the next four years.
