The Nigeria Police Force has unveiled the official portrait of its acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, ahead of his swearing-in on Wednesday.

The development was disclosed in a post on X by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Tuesday.

In the portrait released by the Force, Disu was formally described as the Inspector-General of Police.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to swear in Disu as the substantive IGP during the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, following the unanimous endorsement of his appointment by the Nigeria Police Council on Monday.

“The swearing-in ceremony will take place during the Federal Executive Council meeting scheduled for the same day,” the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said in a statement.

Disu’s confirmation comes barely a week after Tinubu appointed him acting IGP following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun.

Egbetokun cited “family issues” in his resignation letter.

Disu, 59, was born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos State and joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

He holds qualifications in public administration, forensic investigation, criminology, security studies, legal psychology and entrepreneurship.

Before his appointment, he served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Special Protection Unit and the Force CID Annex, Lagos.

Like his predecessor, Disu served under Tinubu during his tenure as Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007.

While Egbetokun was Chief Security Officer, Disu served as Aide-de-Camp.
