Controversial street-pop singer Portable has revealed that he escaped unhurt after suffering a brake failure that led to a minor car accident in Ogun State on Thursday night.

The singer disclosed the incident in a series of videos shared on his Instagram story, explaining that he deliberately drove into a ditch to avoid crashing into another vehicle after losing control of the brakes.

“My fans, thank God on my behalf. This is my usual route. All of a sudden, I lost control of the wheel,” he said in the video.

Portable noted that the accident occurred within his neighbourhood and appealed to the government to fix the road.

“I pressed the brake, but it did not respond. I do not want to die. Ogun saved me. Nothing happened to me. My car is not damaged. Let the government come and complete this road,” he added.

The singer also reflected on how fortunate he was that no trailer was passing when the brake failed.

“Nothing do me oo, I came out unhurt. I suddenly realised that the car had failed brake. I thank God my people did not come here to carry my corpse,” he said.

Portable further revealed that the incident happened barely a day before the naming ceremony of his newborn son.

“I’ve already bought two cows for my son’s naming ceremony. Thank God that the accident didn’t happen when the trailer was passing on the road,” he stated.

The naming ceremony is for the singer’s son, Fijabi, with his wife, Bewaji, who gave birth during Portable’s celebrity boxing match with Carter Efe on May 1.

The singer had earlier generated buzz online after distributing free Ankara aso ebi fabrics ahead of the ceremony.
