Senator Sunday Katung has called on members of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna South Senatorial District to embrace peaceful and issue-based politics as the party prepares for its forthcoming primaries.

In a statement released on Thursday, the lawmaker urged supporters, stakeholders and party faithful to reject bitterness and divisive rhetoric, stressing the need for civility and mutual respect throughout the internal electoral process.

Katung noted that while party primaries remain a vital component of democratic practice, they must not be reduced to platforms for personal attacks or unnecessary rancour.

“Politics must remain a noble instrument of service, not a theatre for personal vendettas or division,” he said.

He appealed to party members to remain calm, law-abiding and focused on the broader objective of promoting peace, unity and development across Southern Kaduna.

According to him, no individual ambition should override the collective interest of the people, urging aspirants to strictly adhere to party guidelines and respect the outcome of a credible process.

“The interest of our people must always come before personal ambition. No aspiration, however worthy, can surpass the collective interest of Southern Kaduna,” Katung stated.

The senator reaffirmed his confidence in the integrity of the APC’s internal processes and called for unity among members, describing it as key to the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.

He further urged members to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other APC candidates.

Katung also condemned political violence in all forms and encouraged constituents to demonstrate their commitment to democratic ideals through peaceful participation and issue-driven engagement.

He expressed optimism that Southern Kaduna would continue to uphold the values of unity and responsible political conduct ahead of the elections.
