British-Nigerian rapper Skepta has called for global support against what he described as continued injustice in Nigeria, urging the international community to speak up for the country.

The appeal was contained in a video message which went viral on various social media platforms on Thursday.

In the video, Skepta referenced his experience during the End SARS protests and said a recent memory on his phone reminded him of the demonstrations and the concerns that sparked them.

“I just had a memory on my phone, when we were at the EndSars protest on ground and it just got me thinking man, I was like it still feels like, it’s just so much injustice still in Nigeria,” he said.

The rapper said he had continued to speak against injustice whenever possible, including through his shows and public messaging.

“Whenever I can, whether it’s at my shows, verbally, imagery, whatever I can do, we’re going to speak up for injustice at all times,” he said.

Skepta also highlighted what he described as Nigerians’ willingness to speak out on global humanitarian issues, including conflicts in countries such as Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Lebanon, Iran and Cuba, while appealing for similar solidarity for Nigeria.

“Nigerians, we’re like that as people, whether that’s Congo, Sudan, Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Cuba, we’re going to speak up, but please help us Nigerians, we need help too, we need people to speak up for us as well,” he said.

He added, “There’s so much injustice in Nigeria, we could go on for all day. This is my message to the people that please, I know that we’re resilient and we make everything look good, but we need help too, so please help us, help Nigeria speak up.”

Checks showed the roughly one-minute clip was not published on Skepta’s verified X account or as a regular post on his official Instagram page.

However, the video was reposted by several Nigerian and UK entertainment platforms, with the posts crediting the rapper and describing the clip as a direct message to Nigerians.

Skepta, born Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., has maintained close ties with Nigeria and has frequently referenced his Nigerian heritage in his music and public appearances.

His latest remarks come amid renewed conversations on governance, accountability and economic hardship in the country.
