The advance screening of ‘Call of My Life’, which held recently at Filmhouse IMAX, Lekki, Lagos, brought together cast members, filmmakers, media personalities, and fans for an evening that blended film, music and reflections on modern romance.

Beyond the screening itself, the atmosphere surrounding the event mirrored the film’s emotional tone.

Outside the venue, a Tiwa Savage-themed karaoke setup created a lively pre-screening experience, with fans performing her songs as guests arrived, setting a celebratory mood ahead of the premiere.

The romantic drama follows Soluchi, a call centre agent rebuilding her life after heartbreak, and Eli, a newscaster who unexpectedly finds love through an ordinary work connection.

The story explores vulnerability, emotional healing, and the courage to love again after disappointment.

Speaking after the screening, the lead actor, Andrew Bunting, who plays Eli, described the role as one that demanded emotional restraint and authenticity, particularly in portraying a man navigating unexpected affection.

“Let’s talk about love being vulnerable and unapologetically yourself,” he added, describing love in simple terms as “peace, comfort, safety.”

For writer and lead actress, Uzoamaka Power, who plays Soluchi, the film carries personal resonance, drawing inspiration from her own experience working in a call centre.

“The producer, Blessing Uzi, and I wanted to tell a great story based on love. We explored an experience I had at the call centre,” she said.

She explained that Soluchi’s character was shaped around emotional truth, especially the realities of relationships that fail to offer genuine care.

The director, Dammy Twitch, who is transitioning from music video production into feature filmmaking, described the movie as a defining step in his creative journey, noting the demands of long-form storytelling.

He praised the screenplay’s emotional honesty and credited Power for crafting a story rooted in lived experience.

“The script comes from an honest place. I really loved directing this because the script was amazing,” he said, adding that the film reinforces his belief that love should be experienced honestly and without reservation.

For Beverly Osu, who plays Zimuzo, the production stood out for its calm and collaborative environment, which allowed performances to develop naturally.

Guests at the screening, including songstress, Tiwa Savage, also added star power to the event, with the music star expressing support for the project and its creative team.
