United Kingdom-based gospel musician, Tochukwu Richard, aka Richy Okechukwu, is gaining recognition for his contribution to contemporary gospel music.

Born in Lagos but originally from Arochukwu in Abia State, the artiste began his music career in 2011 and has since built a growing presence within the global gospel music community.

A statement shared with Saturday Beats noted that his sound blends R&B with gospel, Afro-gospel, worship and contemporary Christian music, creating a style that connects African gospel influences with modern production elements.

It added, “Since relocating to the United Kingdom, he has continued to expand his reach through recordings, live performances and collaborations with other artistes.

“Over the years, the singer has released several studio albums including ‘Your Grace’, ‘God Alone’, ‘Thanksgiving’, ‘Love Story’, and ‘Richy & Friends’.”

It added that in addition to the albums, the artiste has released more than 45 singles distributed across digital streaming platforms.

“He has also organised and headlined three gospel concerts in the United Kingdom, all of which sold out, further strengthening his presence within the UK gospel music scene.

“In 2025, he served as the creative force behind a musical project released by the Streams of Joy Birmingham Chabod Choir in the UK, highlighting his role not only as a performer but also as a creative contributor within the gospel music community.

“Continuing his musical journey in 2026, the artiste has already released two singles titled ‘He Lives in Me’, and ‘Testify’.

“He also plans to release a live recording project that will be unveiled monthly throughout the year,” the statement added.
