The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded Nigeria’s 2026 economic growth forecast to 4.2% from 4.1%, citing improving economic stability and a more favourable outlook for the country. The revised projection, contained in the IMF’s October 2026 World Economic Outlook, represents an increase of 0.1 percentage point from the Fund’s earlier estimate of 4.1%. Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira strengthened slightly against the dollar on Wednesday, trading at N1,332.59, compared with N1,332.97 on Tuesday. This means that the naira appreciated marginally by N0.38 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis, recording its first gain of the week after depreciating on Monday and Tuesday.
