Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after an outstanding campaign with Manchester United F.C.
The Portugal midfielder recently won the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award and has now added another major honour to his collection.
Fernandes matched the Premier League record for most assists in a single season after providing his 20th assist in United’s match against Nottingham Forest F.C. last weekend.
The 31-year-old has also scored eight goals in 37 league appearances to help Manchester United finish third and qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Fernandes created 132 chances during the season, more than any other player in the league. His total was 43 more than Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool F.C., who came second on the list.
He becomes the first Manchester United player to win the award since former captain Nemanja Vidić received it in 2011.
The award winner was decided through votes from football fans and a panel of experts.
Other players nominated for the award included David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Igor Thiago and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Manchester United will end their season with an away match against Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. on Sunday.
