It will be recalled that Governor Adeleke announced the extension on August 31, 2026, during the inauguration of the reconstituted Governing Council of UNIOSUN. Following the announcement, the state House of Assembly amended the UNIOSUN Establishment Law to give room for the extension. A social critic, Justice Ozobi, who accused the commissioner of police in Ebonyi State of collecting N4.2 million bribe, has been arrested. The police spokesperson in Ebonyi State, Joshua Ukandu, announced this in a statement on Friday. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has begun introducing self-service fuel pumps at selected NNPC Retail stations, allowing motorists to dispense petrol themselves using a mobile application. The development is part of NNPC’s plan to deploy between 50 and 70 smart, self-service stations across the country within the next six months. Nigeria’s use of foreign exchange nearly doubled to $50.93 billion in 2025 as businesses, financial institutions and importers increased demand for dollars across the economy. The latest Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) data showed that foreign exchange utilisation rose 91.1 percent from $26.65 billion recorded in 2024, taking annual utilisation to its highest level since 2019. The increase was not driven principally by merchandise imports. Transactions classified as invisibles accounted for $30.99 billion, or about 61 percent of all foreign exchange utilised during the year, while import-related transactions accounted for $19.94 billion.
